Lee’s Summit, Missouri – Ascentist Management LLC and Ascentist Physicians Group LLC (Ascentist) announced today that it had reached agreement to merge with Head and Neck Surgical Associates of Overland Park, Kansas.

The transaction, effective January 1, 2019, will further expand Ascentist’s position as the largest physician owned otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) practice in the Kansas City region. Head and Neck Surgical Associates will become a division of Ascentist and continue to practice under its current name and from its current locations on the campuses of Menorah Medical Center and Research Medical Center.

Dr. David Rudman, President of Head and Neck Surgical Associates, said, “We look forward to partnering with the Ascentist Group. We expect great synergy between these two longstanding practices. This merger will provide the best ENT care for patients in the region.”

Combined with the other division of Ascentist, ENT Associates of Greater Kansas City, Ascentist will serve 12 local hospitals and four rural hospitals from 12 locations in the Kansas City Region. The combined practice will have over 100 employees, 17 otolaryngology (ENT) physicians and 15 professionally licensed audiologists serving over 45,000 patient encounters per year.

ENT Associates of Greater Kansas City is pleased to announce that Nicholas Wirtz, MD joined our practice in September 2018.

Nicholas Wirtz, MDDr. Nicholas Wirtz is a fellowship trained Otolaryngologist (ENT) Head and Neck Surgeon specializing in the management of cancers of the head and neck. A native of Blue Springs, he earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri, graduating summa cum laude with honors. Dr Wirtz completed residency at the University of Minnesota, and was awarded Outstanding Resident Clinician, an honor given to the top chief resident. He furthered his training by completing a fellowship in Advanced Oncologic Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, working with some of the top surgeons in the field. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.

His interests include:

  • Management of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck
  • Surgical treatment of skin cancer
  • Thyroid and parathyroid surgery
  • Robotic surgery
  • Sinus and nasal obstruction treatment
  • Sleep apnea surgery

ENT Associates of Greater Kansas City is pleased to announce that Stanley McClurg, MD, FARS has joined our practice in May 2018.

Stanley McClurg MDDr. McClurg is fellowship-trained and specializes in Rhinology, Sinus Surgery and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery. He has undergone rigorous training in general Otolaryngology and Advanced Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Tumor Surgery. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Residency at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. He then went on to complete a prestigious Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC, and has recently become a Fellow of the American Rhinologic Society. Dr. McClurg’s clinical and research interests include computational fluid dynamics of the nasal airway, topical drug delivery within the paranasal sinuses, improving surgical treatment of sinusitis in the office setting, and managing recalcitrant and revision sinus surgery patients. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his Obstetrician wife and their 1-year-old son.

Dr. McClurg’s areas of interest are:

  • Revision and Primary Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
  • Nasal Airway Obstruction Surgery (Septoplasty, Turbinate Reduction, Nasal Valve Collapse)
  • Repair of CSF spinal fluid leaks and Encephaloceles

Brandon Johnson MDDr. Brandon Johnson joined ENT Associates of Greater Kansas City after finishing residency training at the University of Kansas Medical Center.  Dr. Johnson grew up in Washington, Missouri, a small town near St. Louis, before attending Saint Louis University to earn his undergraduate degree.  He spent the next several years working in the medical device industry before pursuing a career in medicine.  Since earning his medical degree from Mizzou (or University of Missouri-Columbia), Dr. Johnson has lived and worked in the Kansas City area, and will treat the full spectrum of ear, nose and throat related conditions. 

AmberKastenAmber Kadolph Kasten worked at ENT Associates as an Audiology Assistant after she graduated from KU with a Bachelors degree in Speech-Language-Hearing. It was here she decided to pursue a Doctor of Audiology degree at Northwestern University in Chicago as a part of their accelerated three year program. She will spend her third year in Tampa, Florida completing a year long externship at the James A. Haley Veterans Affairs Hospital helping our nation’s vets with their hearing and balance needs.

LEE'S SUMMIT, MISSOURI - JULY 21, 2015.  ENT Associates of Greater Kansas City, P.C. has reached an agreement to purchase Professional Hearing Center Inc. of Belton, Missouri.  Professional Hearing Center serves the Belton and Liberty, Missouri areas as a full service audiology practice.  The transaction is expected to close in August 2015.

Professional Hearing Center was founded by Dr. Kelly Spiller in 2008 to bring professional, clinically-based hearing related treatments to the patients in the Belton area.  The company expanded in 2013 with the addition of a Liberty, Missouri location.
