The first step in being fitted with hearing aids is a complete diagnostic hearing evaluation. This evaluation includes a variety of measurements that will determine the type, degree, configuration and symmetry of the hearing loss. After this evaluation and assessment of your lifestyle and personal goals, our audiologists will guide you towards the most suitable circuit choice and hearing aid style for your particular hearing loss. They will also make a recommendation about the appropriateness of using one aid or two. Research supports the benefits of wearing two hearing aids for most individuals, with superior performance in all listening situations. 30-DAY ADJUSTMENT PERIOD Our Hearing Aid Centers offer all patients a 30-day return privilege on any new hearing aid. We welcome you to call our office for more information. HEARING AID MANUFACTURERS Our primary suppliers of hearing aids are Oticon, Unitron, Phonak and ReSound. However, we also utilize hearing aids made by a number of other leading manufacturers such as Microtech and Sonic Innovations. Regardless of the manufacturer, our goal is to provide our patients with the latest technological advances at reasonable prices. TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES At our Hearing Aid Centers, we continuously update our product line to provide our patients with the latest advances in hearing aid technology. We offer digital hearing aids with optional features such as automatic telephone solutions, automatic directional microphones, and automatic volume controls. We also offer the latest in Open Ear Technology. Hearing aids can now be fully automatic or completely controlled by the wearer. Digital hearing aids can be adjusted easily if an individual’s hearing loss changes, and are most precisely fit to a particular hearing loss. We have available a wide variety of hearing aids ranging from Behind the Ear (BTE) models to the very smallest Completely in the Canal (CIC) and open fit slim tube mini BTE models. We offer Analog and Completely Digital Hearing Aids. Don't confuse the style of the hearing aid with the technology that is inside. ADJUSTING TO YOUR NEW HEARING AID It does take time to adjust to the sound of a new hearing aid. You will become more aware of environmental sounds as well as your own voice. Some sounds may even be annoying at first. With time and patience you will adapt and begin to enjoy and appreciate the new world of sound that has been opened up to you. Keep in mind that while a hearing aid can greatly improve your ability to hear and recognize speech, it will not typically restore your hearing to normal. The amount of improvement you experience will depend on the type and degree of your hearing loss, accurate diagnostic testing and the proper fitting of your hearing aid.
